Learning and Teaching

Higher education institutions in Wales continually strive to deliver excellence while enhancing the quality of the student learning experience.

With funding support from HEFCW, institutions develop learning and teaching strategies and work in partnership with the Higher Education Academy to develop and disseminate good practice throughout the sector.

Higher Education Academy (HEA)

Institutions work with the HEA to develop and enhance learning and teaching to enable students to enjoy the highest quality learning experience in the world.
More information on the HEA’s specific work in Wales can be found on the HEA website.

HEW Learning and Teaching Advisory Group (L&TAG)

The L&TAG was established in December 2007 to advise on and alert HEW to policy issues in learning and teaching, quality assurance, quality enhancement and the student learning experience which are of short and long-term significance to the sector.

The Group assists HEW members, in conjunction with Universities UK, in keeping up to date in relation to the relevant UK and Wales-specific policy areas and priorities, including the UK Government, the Welsh Assembly Government, the Higher Education Academy, the Quality Assurance Agency, the National Union of Students, Lifelong Learning UK, political parties, the UK Funding Councils and other public and private bodies.

An important aspect of the L&TAG’s work is to provides a forum for discussion on issues relating to learning and teaching and collaboration. L&TAG also provides Vice-Chancellor's with advice on learning and teaching matters.
